Counselling & Psychotherapy

Inclusive perinatal mental health support including qualified support for birth or breastfeeding experiences that didn’t or aren’t going as hoped.

Every family is different and there is no typical scenario that leads people to work with me, but if you identify with any of the following statements, I may be able to support you.

Birth Debrief
 – Your birth did not go as planned and you need a little support to grieve the hoped-for experience and to explore your emotions regarding your birth story. You have not experienced trauma but you may still be experiencing feelings of sadness, guilt, regret or loss.

 – You are an existing parent planning on, or already, pregnant with, a subsequent child and feel your experience of pregnancy and birth this time round are being adversely affected by unprocessed emotions from a previous pregnancy/birth.

Birth Trauma
 – Your birth experience was traumatic and you are experiencing anxiety, flashbacks, feelings of helplessness, anger or a sense of numbness / shock. You may be struggling to bond with your baby or adjust to your new role as a parent.

 – You are an existing parent planning on, or already, pregnant with, a subsequent child and your experience of pregnancy and birth this time round are being adversely affected by a previous traumatic pregnancy/birth.

Counselling for Birth Partners
– You are not the birthing parent but you struggled with seeing someone through a difficult or traumatic birth experience. You may be experiencing feelings of shock, helplessness, confusion or frustration.

Breastfeeding Grief
– You have been unable to breastfeed at all or for as long as you wanted and would like some emotional support processing the complex feelings that can arise when feeding does not go as desired.

(Please note that it is not possible for me to act as a doula and counsellor / psychotherapist for the same person.)
